Our Curriculum
We’re committed to inquiry, the practice of asking questions and seeking answers! Our students learn early and often that their voices matter and that they can make a difference every day.
Our interdisciplinary approach emphasizes collaborative learning and character development.
The school was created in response to the local community expressing the need for another educational option in Muncie, one in which parents feel comfortable partnering with school staff and where student participation and inquiry is encouraged.
By leveraging a child’s natural curiosity and sense of adventure through interactive and
inquiry-based lessons we are able to reach students in a more thoughtful manner and excite them about their educational possibilities.
At Inspire, students are taught habits of success to become leaders of their own learning. Inspire Academy is open to all Indiana residents and is committed to targeting students who are not realizing their full potential in the traditional classroom setting.
Our goal is to ensure your child is meeting their full potential, closing skill and opportunity gaps to expand what they view as possible.
Curriculum is a tool toward this goal and changes periodically to ensure we are best serving students. All curriculum is aligned to Indiana State Standards, and is effective August 2025.
Our Curriculum
Outdoor Learning Lab and Moby Max Science
Classes are scheduled 2-3 times per week in the Outdoor Learning Lab, and students participate in a variety of lessons types:
• Teacher-led information sessions
• Teacher-guided inquiry sessions
• Hands on research
• Self-guided exploration.
In addition to the Outdoor Learning Lab, teachers use Moby Max Science Curriculum to ensure standards beyond the Life Sciences are also covered comprehensively.
In the elementary grades, our English Language Arts curriculum also incorporates science topics, with focus on scientific vocabulary, as part of our integrated approach.

Amplify Core Knowledge Language Arts
Amplify Core Knowledge Language Arts is our integrated curriculum for English language arts, science, and social studies at the elementary level. Grounded in the science of reading, students learn to incorporate reading and writing skills with broader content knowledge in the science and social studies fields, building essential phonics skills while expanding their vocabulary to ensure a solid foundation is laid for middle school.
Amplify English Language Arts is our integrated curriculum for English language arts and social studies at the middle school level. At this stage students should be solidly established readers and writers who are applying these skills to more complex topics and projects, modeling professional standards through products for authentic audiences.
Through these projects, students tackle real world problems and learn to use their voice to impact positive change.
Eureka Math²
By consistently using the same math program from age 5 to 14, with increased complexity and rigor each year, students will build their confidence and become strong mathematicians.
Eureka Math² is our mathematics curriculum for all students in Kindergarten through 8th grade, with Algebra 1 included for students who are ready by 8th grade!
Eureka Math² has received high approval rankings at both the state and national level.
Eureka Math² promotes student-led exploration while providing plenty of procedural practice. While Inspire Academy has previously integrated science into the ELA curriculum through 8 th grade, we will begin separating it out in SY2526 for increased middle school STEM rigor. Stay tuned for updates.
Next Gen Personal Finance
Next Gen Personal Finance is our financial literacy curriculum that every Inspire middle school student is required to complete as an elective sometime during their middle school years at Inspire. Students explore their money values, learn the basics of banking, saving, and budgeting, and start thinking ahead to high school and their financial futures.
While we have provided a personal finance elective for years, we are excited to be making a greater impact on students’ financial future with this improved curriculum.
Art and PE
At Inspire Academy, students participate in comprehensive art classes, based on the Indiana State Standards. Our core content teachers and our art teacher work together to identify ways that students can use art to further process and represent the concepts they are learning in the general education classroom.
Students also participate in routine physical education classes that encourage healthy, active lifestyles through the use of conditioning, games, and skills practice. Our PE teacher uses the Indiana State Standards to guide lessons for a comprehensive foundation of developing physical agility and coordination in our students.
Middle School Electives
Middle school students are provided a variety of electives to choose between to ensure they have voice and choice in their educational content. Electives vary by year based on student interest and teacher expertise.
Stay tuned for updates by semester of electives being offered.
